MIPCOM is a TV and entertainment market which is held in the town of Cannes once every year, normally in October. Interviewed at MIPCOM Simon Cowell summed up what his TV talent shows have meant to his career by reading out a text he received Monday afternoon from Ella about her UK chart-topping debut album.
"As a little girl I had a dream and that was to sing with my own music and in my own way," the message began.
"Whatever happens from here, I just have to say I'm so glad to share my music with the world, and for you to be a part of this incredible process.... Here's to the beginning, Ella," the text ended."
Simon received his MIPCOM tribute at a special ceremony Tuesday evening (October 14) at the Carlton Hotel, Cannes, France.
The evening was opened by a special set from Ella who sang an acoustic version of "Ghost" and a selection of new songs from "Chapter One".Rocker-turned-reality star Gene Simmons and ex-CNN host Piers Morgan were in the crowd to congratulate Cowell, along with Morgan Spurlock, Sir Philip Green, Erin McPherson and Disney president Anne Sweeney.
