"Ella, Nicole set to headline inaugural SATY Awards"

"She was the 16 year old that had former X factor Judge Nicole Scherzinger bawling her eyes out and proclaiming; 'You can't judge that, you just have to be honoured', this was after contestant Ella Henderson mesmerised other judges and the audience alike with her rendition of Cher's song, Believe during season 9 of X Factor UK.

Two years later, mentor and mentee are set to headline the inaugural ANN7 SATY Awards on the same stage, where extra ordinary South Africans will be celebrated and honoured, amid pomp and fanfare.

Her debut single Ghost was declared the fastest selling UK release for 2014 garnering mass acclaim and rave reviews that have equalled latest sensation Sam Smith's award nominated debut.

Performing Ghost to a live audience of over 80000 still stands out in this starry eyed 18 year old who said: ' The last six months have just been one high after another. Performing Ghost in front of 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium is a moment I will never forget."

Now with the second single release Glow, imminent just before the full debut album release end of this month, the excitement levels have hit crescendo heights. Ella and her X factor mentor Nicole land in South Africa next week where excitement and anticipation has already hit roof level.

Ella's latest single Ghost has reach platinum status in both sales and radio spins across many radio stations, while Nicole's anticipated 'On The rocks' single will be release on October 12 world wide.

The two will share the stage with South Africa's finest, Mafikizolo, Zahara, Micasa, Lira who are all international brands in their own right.
The  awards will be broadcast live on ANN7tv at 19:30 on DSTV 405."

Ghost Arrives at US Pop Radio - Headline Planet reporting, August 26, 2014

The US online magazine Headline Planet today headlines with news about Ellas song Ghost. Citing the website:

Ella Henderson’s “Ghost” Arrives at US Pop Radio

"American pop radio has proven its willingness to embrace acts from the UK version of “The X Factor.”

Recently, it has demonstrated an affinity for songs that established themselves on international music charts.

The newest entry to the US pop market can check both boxes. Impacting pop radio Tuesday on behalf of Columbia Records, “Ghost,” the debut single from series nine “X Factor” contestant Ella Henderson, arrives with considerable buzz and a laundry list of achievements.

“Ghost,” most notably, has already reached number one in the UK, where it ranks as the year’s fastest-selling debut single and claims the year’s second-largest radio audience. Only Pharrell’s “Happy” has made a bigger splash on United Kingdom airwaves.

The song also reached #1 on the Irish, Scottish and Polish charts. It has gone as high as #3 in Australia.

Far from a completely unknown commodity in the US, “Ghost” has thus far garnered 400,000 US Spotify streams and and high-profile exposure on a “Good Morning America” episode. It now attempts to tackle the US radio market.

Bearing similarities to “Bleeding Love,” which he co-wrote and produced for Leona Lewis, and the recent entries to his OneRepublic catalog, “Ghost” makes little effort to hide Ryan Tedder’s involvement as a co-writer and co-producer.

But the song ultimately functions as a platform for Henderson’s powerful, richly-textured vocals, and it therefore serves an immensely effective introduction to one of the world’s most promising young artists. The finished product might not obscure Ryan Tedder’s involvement, but it loudly boasts about Henderson’s role.

And it will be America’s appreciation for that role, which most notably amounts to a confident and soulful, yet restrained and unaffected performance, that will either facilitate or bottleneck the song’s success.

(More than a mere vocalist, Henderson joined Tedder, Kenan Williams and Noel Zancanella as a co-writer; Tedder co-produced with Zancanella)"

Hard working Ella in Australia and New Zealand

It has been an impressive workload för Ella during her promotion trip to Australia and New Zealand. Ella has visited more than 15 TV and radio stations och and has given many more interviews and performances of Ghost.

The highlights were Ellas live performances of Ghost on X Factor and on Sunrise, Channel 7 Australia. Another highlight was the showcase of her upcoming album at Paddington Uniting Church in Sydney.

When Ella comes home to the UK the string of performances of Ghost and hopefully, Glow, will continue. Ella will attend the Fusion Festival in Birmingham on Saturday August 30, 2014 and the Rix FM Festival in Stockholm, Sweden, on Sunday August 31, 2014.

We are all waiting for the first live performance of Glow before a large audience!

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) reporting about Ellas showcase in Sydney

Ros Reines at The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) today gives the following report from Ellas showcase at Paddington Uniting Church, Sydney, on Tuesday August 19, 2014:

"ONE of the most intimate events to showcase a young artist’s work was held on Tuesday night when Ella Henderson performed several tracks from her new album, Chapter One, in front of a crowd of music-industry enthusiasts.
Standing on the small stage with her band, the English teenager — who was a finalist on X Factor UK — lit up the room on a rainy Sydney night with her talent and pure voice.
A highlight was her rendition of her hit single Ghost. Henderson was surprised on stage when she was presented with a platinum record for the sales of Ghost in Australia by Sony chief executive Denis Handlin.
Among others present to congratulate Henderson were Tim Kelly, Jessica Mitchell, John Parker and Tammy Hofbauer. The pretty blonde hung back after her performance to mingle with guests, who were also treated to some fine wines and canapes."

The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) reporting on Ellas visit to Australia, August 19, 2014

Citing the newspaper: For many 18-year-old Brits a trip to Australia means backpacking your way around the country.

Not so for Ella Henderson, the latest English pop starlet to enjoy chart success here. The teen is in Sydney to promote her debut single, Ghost, which went straight to No.1 in the UK and peaked on the Aussie chart in third spot.
“Quite a few of my friends have travelled and visited Australia but to be here for the pure reason that my music has brought me here makes me really happy,” Henderson told Confidential.
“This is definitely an opportunity that doesn’t come around often.”
As an added bonus, the 20 plus hour flight from London, Henderson was upgraded to first class.
“It was amazing. I’m definitely living the dream,” she laughed.
“This whole experience is just insane. I’ve dedicated my life to music since the age of three and it all kind of puts the pieces together.
“The little highlights and perks and the great things are from working hard.”
Henderson, who was born Gabriella, was a finalist on The X Factor UK in 2012, placing sixth in the competition.
Ghost, co-written with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, was released in June and went on to top the charts in numerous countries, including Poland, Scotland and Ireland. The follow-up single, Glow, is due out next month, as is her debut album, Chapter One.
There’s no doubting Henderson is a star on the rise. She’s also making waves in the US, where she performed on Good Morning America earlier this month.
“It is refreshing to come out and have to start from the bottom again,” she said, ahead of a showcase at the Paddington Uniting Church tonight.
“The plan for right now is just to take each day as it comes really. It is just spreading like crazy, you never quite expect this.’’

Is Ella already on her way to achieve superstardom?

At least a UK based magazine uses the word in an article today, writing the following:

"Ella Henderson travels like a superstar on her way to Australia"

"Ella Henderson made sure to travel in style as she headed off on her trip to Australia earlier today. Living the high life, the 18-year-old enjoyed the perks of stardom as she jetted off with a glass of champers in hand."

"Sharing her runway snap, Ella looked every inch the superstar in her fashionista shades as she started her trip away with a nice glass of bubbly and a suave selection of olives and nuts - and we thought plane food wasn't all that great..."

US interpretation of the video to Glow, August 13, 2014

Courtney E. Smith at the NYC based website Radio.com gives the following interpretation of the video to Glow:

“What hath night to do with sleep?” John Milton asked in Paradise Lost.

Ella Henderson revisits the question in the video for her single, “Glow.”

Whether Henderson realizes it or not, “Glow” presents an interesting allegory to the ideas in Paradise Lost. It is unclear if she and the little imps (teenagers) romping around in the glow of the evening throughout this video are working for good or for evil. To what ends do they run and through the woods, in search of what?

Director Charles Mehling has crafted a career of beautiful make-up ads, making already stunning women look even more so for the camera with clever tricks of lighting and angle. Pantene and Rimmel dot his resume. Naturally he applies that beauty aesthetic to the look and feel of “Glow,” creating an eternal magic hour look on Henderson’s already lovely skin.

But as Henderson describes in the listeners of her song as “soldiers of the light” and a spotlight shows us the outline of several teenage figures marching in a loose formation, there is the feeling that this uplifting song has been matched with a visual of the tragedy of human experience. The children frolic around in glowing light with no clear purpose or intent. At times the aesthetics make them look malevolent as well as angelic. Are these angels dark, Milton might wonder? Or are they simply in desperate search for freedom — that same freedom Adam & Eve craved in paradise."

Ella is leaving for Australia on Friday, August 15, 2014 (UPDATED)

Ella has confirmed on british radio that she is heading to Australia on Friday for a promotional tour. Ella will stay in Australia for four days.

The music blog

"British starlet Ella Henderson has been confirmed to take to the stage on Monday night's 'X Factor'.

She's in the country for a whirlwind promotional visit in support of her debut single 'Ghost', which has so far notched up platinum sales in Australia, along with her upcoming single 'Glow' [....] and debut album 'Chapter One', due in late September.

It would appear the singer will only be visiting Sydney at this stage and she'll be in the harbour city from Monday until Thursday August 21."

Australian review of "Glow", August 13, 2014

Auspop - a music blog with more than 70.000 visitors monthly has published the following review of "Glow". Citing the blog:

"Ella Henderson's debut single 'Ghost' is one of our favourite pop songs of 2014 thus far. It's clear it's struck a chord with the British music buying public too; it's not left the top ten since it was released nine long weeks ago; no mean feat for a UK chart that has a propensity of churning through tracks at a rapid rate.

So to say that follow-up single 'Glow' is to play an incredibly important role in the evolution of the artist Ella Henderson is an understatement.

Co-penned by British songwriters Camille Purcell and Steve Mac, the track is a little slower in tempo than its smash hit predecessor, but no less catchy, with a chorus that's designed to make an impact at radio, get stuck in your head and showcase Ella's incredible voice. The latter shines brightly here.

'Glow' is currently scheduled for an Australian release on Friday September 12. The album 'Chapter One' will drop one week later."

Almost 100 % positive comments to "Glow" on Youtube, August 12, 2014

Is "Glow" shining brighter than "Ghost"?

"Glow" has as of now - 12 hours after the premiere - been viewed over 50.000 times on Youtube. The so far over 400 comments to the video are almost 100 % positive or very positive. Some are more positive to the song than to the video itself.

The most remarkable is that so many of those leaving comments expresses that "Glow" is as good as or better than "Ghost".

So, is "Glow" shining brighter than "Ghost"?

According to my opinion, it is. And it relates more to a younger audience, to the "Ellastars" who has been lifting Ella through hard times as well as good times during the past 20 months after the exit from X-factor. However, only time will tell.

Another US review of Ellas new video, August 12, 2014

Idolator - a leading independent US website for pop music fans - has published the following positive review of Ellas new video. Citing the site:

Ella Glows!

"UK’s X-Factor alum Ella Henderson has certainly been on a role as of late: With her Ryan Tedder-produced track “Ghost”  dazzling the pop world across the globe, the British soulstress is back with anthemic second single “Glow” after revealing the track’s cover art via Instagram just last week.

Featured on her debut album Chapter One (out in the UK on September 22), “Glow” heads in a rather different direction than the power-pop number “Ghost.” With its thumping and dreamy melody, the song not only shows Ella’s incredible versatility, but also really allows her angelic vocals to shine through.

Like the track itself, the video is just as ethereal. As if a Ryan McGinley photograph came to life, Ella glides through a field from dusk till dawn with a gaggle of other spirited youths as they dance, take the night and, well…glow. Simply put, it’s every bit as young, wild and free as you wanted it to be."

US review of Ellas new video "Glow", August 12, 2014

JonAlis (Jonathan Aliaga) music blog published a very positive review of Ellas new video today. Citing the blog:

Ella Henderson Soars on New Single, ‘Glow’

"About two weeks ago, I was given the chance to see rising British star Ella Henderson make her U.S. debut in New York City at her very first stateside showcase held at The Box. During her spectacular 5-track set, the 18-year-old X Factor UK alum also performed her new single “Glow” for the very first time, and now, we have it here in full with its accompanying music video. Following UK #1 hit “Ghost,” the track will serve as the second official single off her upcoming debut studio album, Chapter One, which is set for a September 22 release via Syco and Columbia Records. Produced and written with Camille Purcell and Steve Mac, “Glow” is a soaring pop ballad driven by ambient electronica, crashing drums, and dramatic string-work. It’s soulful. It’s flawless. It’s simply great – Another winner from Ella. Were you expecting anything less? Get familiar now!"
